win XP doesn’t recognize CD or DVD

    Win XP recently decided not to recognize my cd or DVD.
    I can gain access via a boot disk with cd drivers. I tried to install a backpack cd off the parallel port and the same thing happens. I'm assuming XPs drivers are corrupt but I don't know how to get them......
