I have a Dell and the key must have been built into the system. I do however, have a CD for reinstalling XP Home PC1.

I am amazed at the speed of the link's responce with the information. Since I have not seen before what a key number may look like, can you give me an idea how these key numbers do look like?

Thanks for the link and your help. (y)

[your key should be on a sticked called the coa. this is a license for having xp on the machine and can be found on the side of your Pc. The sticker will have your 25 character code on it.

I too have a Dell, and on mine the key number is on the side of the computer tower.

Look for a sticker with the key number and serial number on it....mine is on the left side of the computer....
