I am running two networks at the same time.

    Network 1: Novell 3.12
    Network 2: Windows 2000/NT domain

My clients have windows xp pro and have the latest version of the novell netware login client 4.83 with SP1.

When I logged a windows domain user on the machine before I installed the netware client, the computer logged in fine.

After I installed the novell client, when I logged in windows gave me the following error message..."couldn't log you into the domain controller or no domain controller available... windows is loggin you in from a cached account"

I've tried using that novell client that comes with windows xp as well. I've had no luck.

How can I get my workstations to log into the two networks?

What is your Domain Controller - NT or 2k? If NT, then try Service Pack 5 or higher.

You also might want to try the client 4.83SP1 fixes here:

    http://support.novell.com/servlet/tidfinder/2964464

There is a Beta Client 4.83SP2 available, maybe that would help?

AFAIK, you should be able to access both networks...

If you can't figure it out, I would post your question here:

    http://support-forums.novell.com/gr...t/@[email protected]@[email protected]@D-,[email protected]/@[email protected]

and I'm positive that someone will find a solution for you right away.

Ok, I must be doing something way wrong. I'm downloading the executable patch for SP1. I double click, it runs, asks me if I want to continue extraction, I type yes, then enter, it finishes, but there are no files anywhere.

    Help!

I should mention the problem I'm having is only with windows xp, windows 2000 clients can log into both networks.

    Where can I get 4.83 SP2? I didn't see it anywhere on Novell's site.

    goto http://beta.novell.com , public beta.
    Enter name and email address,
for product choose Beta - Consolidated Support Pack 9, Go, view Downloads
and Updates, Go, download SP2 for Client 4.83.

As for the SP1 patch, I have the same problem with some of thier extract progs. I usually make a folder off of the C Drive, say c:\patches, then open a dos prompt. goto the patches directory and then run the patch from dos. The files show up....

Hey man, you saved my life!!! The patch for SP1 fixed it. I ran the exe from a dos prompt and was able to install the patch. This was going to be a huge problem.

Quick question, I seen reference to this many places but do you know why it takes so long for the computer to login?

It hangs on the "apply personal settings" for a good 5-10 minutes.

10/100 Network, on PIII 800MHz, 128 ram running windows xp

I know that isn't the ideal machine for xp but it's a testing machine for me.
