    Hi
i was just round at a friends house on his pc and i noticed he was working with a screen res of 800x600 when i tryed to change it for him, there was only the option to change to 1024x....
when i look on my pc i have about 4 more higher settings to go to.

    why is this?
dose he need tto get new drivers for the graphics card?
(how do i find what card hes using)

    or is it the monitor?

    thanks
    joe

Video card - drivers may not help depending on the card, but worth a shot

    Hi there feel4real

would be useful to know the age and make/model of his Monitor and video card . (also what operating system ).

Quite a few older 17" monitors will not go any higher than 1024*768. This is annoying but nothing you can do appart from get a new monitor.

As for video card, unless it is very old or very cheap i would expect it to go higher than 1024*768.

i will guess you are using XP, if so

    Right click "my computer" >
    Manage >
    Device Manager >
Display adapters > ( this should show you your graphics card make/model )

then just go into google and search for that make/model and install the latest drivers.

but saying that, if i would have to guess i would guess it is the monitor.
