Hi
I have win xppro sp2 laptop, and win 2003 server sp2. I have installed IIS on both, and can access my local sites on laptop from my server. But I cannot access server sites from my laptop. I cannot ping server from laptop - it gives me error: request timed out.
On my laptop I have zonealarm security suite and my server has pctools firewall plus v 3.
The file sharing works perfectly, I can view the network on both machines in windows explorer, and access files from both pcs.
It is the http:// from laptop to server that is not working.
Thanks

What address are you trying to use to access the server site on the 2003 Server? Unless you have NAT loopback in your router, you will have to use the local network IP address, not the public IP address or URL.

Use the local network address, probably 192.168.x.x.

hi
not working.
I tried shutting off windows firewall on the server, and for sometime, I could access the http://dzigns from laptop. But now that also does not help.
Thanks

Did you shut off the PC Tools firewall?

From the server launch a web browser and type in http://127.0.0.1 to see if you can pull up the web page from the locally running web server.
