    Try this:

Start > Run > Services.msc > Scroll Down For Themes

Make Sure Its Status Is Started And Startup Type Is Automatic.

Why not just get Windows 7? XP is an antique.

I would have suggested this, but it doesn't really answer the question being asked. Also, one might also consider that it is not being upgraded because of the price of the OS. No disrespect intended, Elvandil. But I was told the same thing once, which wasn't very helpful. To me it was like telling someone that if they had computer issues, to just re-install their OS. Which is just the easy way out, imo. :)

Also, I might add that I personally prefer XP over Win 7 or the like. This member may feel the same.

Stardock is excellent if you don't mind spending a little. It integrates much better in my opinion than the free stuff does, which tends to be buggy and cause problems. Some user submitted themes under the WindowBlinds awning can also be buggy but I can confidently return to normal just by applying another theme.

BTW, I'm also tired of the dusting of bigotry, if XP really were an antique like Windows 98 and ME, that would be one thing, but its lighter, leaner, and still does some things better than W7 and certainly doesn't restrict me in the least, yet. When 3rd party support goes away, then an OS becomes antique no matter how great it is, until then its just OLD! Respect your elders. :)

Here here, Fairnooks! I concur with this suggestion. I use Stardock, and it is excellent.
