win95 boot up

Hi! I am having a problem with my windows. The computer is 6 yrs old and is a gateway nothing has been updated. I need to know what to do. I reinstalled win95 but when I restarted it the second time and it asks for me to put in the win 95 cd rom and i do but when I click on okay nothing happens and the asks for it again I change it to the e drive and still nothing. Please help me!

did you install realmode drivers for your cdrom. It sounds like you need them.

With your cdrom in the drive, from the dos prompt, go to the cdrom drive letter by typing D: if your cdrom is normally D, or E:, etc. Type dir and press enter, to you see the directory list of the disk or do you get inaccessable drive message
