Hi, I was advised to install avast on my pc. Should I disable or remove windows defender?
Someone told me that, having both enabled will slow down my PC considerable.

I would ignore the advice and stay with Windows Defender
It is 100% compatible with all aspects of 10 - 100% of the time, not something that can be said for most if not all third party anti viruses on 10.
AVAST has and continues to cause problems on 10 - especially after a series of windows updates.
