    Greetings to the forum,

    A new member here.

Here are the details from your SysInfo Utility:

Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.4
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 Home, 64 bit
    Processor: AMD FX(tm)-4300 Quad-Core Processor, AMD64 Family 21 Model 2 Stepping 0
    Processor Count: 4
    RAM: 8191 Mb
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon R7 200 Series, -2048 Mb
    Hard Drives: C: 931 GB (818 GB Free); E: 1862 GB (1785 GB Free);
    Motherboard: MSI, 760GM-P23(FX) (MS-7641)
    Antivirus: Windows Defender, Disabled

I have ESET Smart Security Running

    The Problem:

If I try to the get the Settings window to open, it opens briefly and before I can do anything it closes. I got an .iso from Microsoft tech support and it re-installed Windows 10 without affecting any installed programs or data. If I run that .iso again will I be able to keep all installed programs? Is there another solution.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Be well,
    JJStick

Did the reinstall solve the problem ? If not doing it again won't either (but it should leave your programs intact if it did the first time).

Answer to your question is NO. You will not keep the installed programs with a fresh install.
I think your problem may be with
    1. The Eset security. Disable it an see if it helps
    and
    2. You need to enable the Defender.

It fixed it the first time but shortly afterwards, about a week later, the problem re-appeared. I asked if reinstalling the .iso would leave my programs intact because the tech at Microsoft went through the procedure when she had control of my computer I didn't see exactly what she did.

The .iso install was not a clean install, it left everything as it was. My plan is to get things back in order and test with ESET on and off. It is a company mandated security measure. Thanks for the input.

You have Windows 10 "Anniversary Update" Version 1607 Build 14393 that was released in July 2016.

Windows 10 "Creators Update" Version 1703 Build 15063 is scheduled to be available on or after April 11th (the next "Patch Tuesday").

Hi Frank, I have the latest updates, and I'm hoping that the next patch will help, even if I have to install it manually. Thanks for the reply.

    Be well,
    John

I only do a "clean" install of Windows 10, so good luck with doing the "upgrade" install. (y)

I used the .iso I got from Microsoft tech support and it worked perfectly. All programs, data and shortcuts remained and the system operates perfectly. This time I made many restore points so I can get back to good if I have any more problems. Thanks for the input.

I did a clean install of Windows 10 Pro "Creators Update" Version 1703 Build 15063 64-bit about a week ago.

I'm glad to hear it all worked out for you. (y)
