    Hi everyone. :)

I'm working on a HP Stream which has Windows 10 x64 Home preinstalled. However these little laptops only have a 32GB SSD eMMC which is just not big enough. The update to Windows 10 1803 failed due to insufficient space. I managed to cleanup the drive and successfully updated it to 1803. It has barely any programs installed except Office 2016 pro. Now there is only 1.3GB free space on the eMMC which as you know is not a good situation.

I was thinking of buying a 64GB SD card to copy the Office 2016 installation to and any future programs.

But will an SD cards read/write speed be fast enough to run applications from?

Another option would be to compress drive C but that will slow the read/write speed of the data on the eMMC (won't it?) which kinda defeats the object of having an SSD in the first place.

If anyone could tell me which type of SD card would work best, if any, I'd really appreciate your help.

    Many thanks in advance. :)

Have you cleaned up the previous window version ? ie after you perform a W10 feature update, it keeps the previous version for 10-15 days, which means you have 2 OS's in that 32gb. Next is a basic W10 home install is around 15gb (that is what my tablet has as a size). I can't believe that Office Pro will occupy another 15gb ?

You question about speed of the SD cards, I have one on my tablet, the speed is marginal compared to your main drive. Ok to put data files on them, but not programs.

Go into Settings->System-Storage and select "Free up space now". That will clean things up.

    Hi @storage_man

    Thanks for posting. :)

Yes, I did delete the windows.old folder.

All possible cleanup operations that I can think of have been run including drive cleanup, cleanup452 and ccleaner.

I did actually look at some SD cards I found a sanDisk extreme pro SDXC 64GB with a read speed of 300MB/s and a write speed of 260MB/s. Thats pretty fast for an SD card. Obviously it's not going to be anywhere near the speed of the internal eMMC but I was thinking it would be fast enough to install office on. Or do you not think so?
