    Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version
    OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 Home, 64 bit
    Processor: AMD A10-7800 Radeon R7, 12 Compute Cores 4C+8G, AMD64 Family 21 Model 48 Stepping 1
    Processor Count: 4
    RAM: 7113 Mb
    Graphics Card: AMD Radeon R5 330, -2048 Mb
    Hard Drives: C: 117 GB (41 GB Free); D: 931 GB (857 GB Free);
    Motherboard: HP, 2B52
    Antivirus: Avast Antivirus, Enabled and Updated

    I'm reluctant to point the certain finger of guilt at MS but after all the problems I've read about windows 10 updates, I'm full of suspicion!
    My PC includes an SSD that holds all the W10 OS. I also have a second manual HD where I load my personal items. This HD is only about a quarter full.
    Recently, just after a W10 update, I experienced an alarming episode when I discovered that every single file on my manual HD had disappeared, and File Explorer showed the disk as empty!!
    I was able to recover the situation, but only because I had an external back up HD loaded with a recent system image! What I would love to know, is how and why did this happen, I'm rather keen to take precautions that might avoid a repeat!!

    Hi, the answer is so simple. Google for Avast's uninstaller, uninstall this third party AV. Use only windows defender and windows defender firewall, enjoy superior protection and seamless updates, the most common theme in update problems is people who still use third party AV's.
