    Hi

I am running windows 2000 workstation. I collect email from outlook express but occasionally while browsing offline, the dial up connection tries to connect to the internet.

If I cancel this action, the dial up connection stops working and will not respond until the PC has been rebooted.

    Any ideas?

    Hiya

Is this if there is an email coming thru, and it connects to retrieve it? If not, lets have a look at the startup programs.

Go to Run and type MSINFO32
On the left choose Software Enviroment, then Startup Programs.

Actions | Save As Text File, and copy/paste the contents here.

    Regards

    eddie

    Hi Eddie

The problem seems to happen when an email asks for an acknowledgment and is highlighted during offline browsing of mail. It then attempts to connect. If cancelled, it either locks up the PC or stops the internet connection fron responding. I think the port must get stuck in a half open state.

Sorry, but this was the smallest I could get the text to go. It should format back to its correct appearance.
