Windows 2k logon message: Windows cannot load profile

    On logon, I'm getting the following:

    Windows cannot load profile, but has logged you on with the default profile for the system.

    The system has attempted to restore a file into the registry but the specified file is not in a registry file.

    (This message appears with a 30 second countdown)

    Here's the M$ site which addresses this known problem.

    You may end up with a new profile in which case you can drag and drop your information/data from the old profile to the new one.

    Note of caution use copy and not move as I have seen the new profile be eliminated on the next login. Better yet make a backup of your data as well. :(
