The Microsoft Edge browser has become a failure in Windows 10, so Microsoft has reportedly decided to add it to Windows 7.

Although end-of-life for Windows 7 occurs in January 2020, Microsoft reportedly plans to add Microsoft Edge to it in mid/late 2019.

If that's true, and if Microsoft decides to support Microsoft Edge beyond January 2020, I'm guessing more people will continue to use Windows 7 instead of switching to Windows 10.

    Time will tell.

I'm still wondering why I'd want to download Edge from MS when it is based on chromium, rather than just downloading chromium or another chromium based browser?

I already use Vivaldi. I have Brave on one of my android devices. I think I have Iron browser portable on a stick somewhere.

It seems chromium is open source so Micro$oft can add their own stuff to it and then call it Edge.

    From DaveA's link in post #2 :-
    So that's ok then.
