The error indicates that you do not have a second
hard drive connected to write the backup to.
You have selected backup to hard drive.
Do you have an external drive connected?
Is it turned on and recognized?
It won't write a backup to the drive that is being backed up.
If the drive failed, then the backup would too.
So there would be no point in writing it to the same drive.

In the picture you posted, backup to hard drive is selected.
What happens when you put a writable disk in the dvd drive
and select on one or more DVD's?
Does the laptop have a dvd burner?
Depending on the laptop, there may also be a utility to create
    factory restore disks.
You can use an external usb drive,if you decide to get one
    in the future.
Usually a more dependable backup as dvd's can go bad and
a dvd backup usually spans multiple disks.

it has a dvd burner and CyberLink Studios in my utilities can create images of other disks but yeah, i can create system disks (in one of the menu's in the background i can click a link on the left to do it) i created a system repair disk when i got the laptop, but i really want to avoid using it, partially cuz i'm not sure what it'll do to all my stuff on there.

if i have a disk in the drive i can burn to it still comes up with that error when i click create system image disk.

Did you select the second option.
Only thing I can think of at this point
is you may still have hard drive selected, not
    "on one or more DVD's"
    Before starting the image.
