I forgot my Windows password on my laptop and I was going through the steps to change the password when one has no disc or other option.
That being said, one of the final steps was to restart the computer and press the Shift key 5 times to bring up the Cmd prompt, but no command line box opens.

Help please! :(

That's the primary danger of password-protecting a computer.
If you forget the password and are not able to log in and load the Windows operating system, you have a useless computer.

If you read the rules in these forums, we usually do not provide help with a password-protected computer.
We have no way to verify its real owner or the reason for wanting to access it.

You can "recover to factory defaults" if you still have a usable Recovery partition or bothered to make a set of Recovery DVDs. Or you can install (or use as a "Live CD") a free Linux distribution or buy/install a new Windows. The computer is far from useless just because you forgot your Windows account password.

Since you are the only one to know where you got these directions, go through them again and see if it works; otherwise, you'll have to do a "recover to factory defaults" as Terry posted above.
