Hi, all of a sudden my Lenovo x220 ThinkPad with Windows 7 professional is failing to start.
It gives me this message in Windows Boot Manager
"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer
2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
3. Click "repair your computer."
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
Status: 0cx000000f
Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible"
I do not have the installlation disc, this is a 5 year old laptop. My warranty has also run out. I'm confused because it was working perfectly fine a couple weeks ago.
I have a lot of important data on it that I can't afford to lose.. wondering if the data in the hard drive is still safe?
If your Lenovo ThinkPad X200 laptop is 5 years old, it's possible that its hard drive is failing.
When this happens, it can work fine one day and then suddenly not work at all.

If data is that important to you, it should be backed up on a regular basis, and you should have at least 2 backup copies.
If the Windows operating system crashes or if the hard drive fails, it may be impossible or may be expensive to retrieve it.

My mistake, there was a typo when writing the laptop model. It's the X220 not X200. I do backup fairly regulary, probably every 2 or 3 months and I know I should be doing it more often, but that isn't my issue right now. From the past month alone I have a bunch of data I need from the hard drive.
You didn't really give me any information related to the specific issue that I wrote about... Thanks, I guess?

I'm not there, so I can't give you a definite answer as to why you see that blue screen warning.
Like I previously said, my first guess is the hard drive is failing.
If you know a reliable laptop technician who can examine and troubleshoot your laptop, that might be the best option.
