Yes and no. You can install Windows 7 RC on a machine that is currently running on XP provided that the machine's specs meet the requirements. But you have to do a clean install, which means you have to back up all files before installling Win 7 RC, also you have to have drivers ready for post installation of Win 7. If what I'm sayig doesn't make any sense to you, then, be prepare to ask tons of questions in the future before you get it to work. Hopefully your questions will get answered by someone. And if you are not familiar with windows installation, I strongly encourage you to try this on a SPARE computer in case you need to have a tech come over to do it.

Anyway, what I said about whether you can install Win 7 RC over XP is explained on this download page.

It was easy for me as well. you don't need special knowledge to install it. but if you try it on your main computer that you need to carry out your daily activities, then come across an issue such as your printer does work when your printer is a necessity, or the internet doesn't work because the generic driver for your LAN is not available, then you'd have to deal with those issues, or you'd wanna roll it back to XP, but I'm not sure if the poster feels confident about trouble shooting driver related issues, reinstallation of XP, etc all that. And there's no support by Microsoft this time. I think it's worth a shot if they have a SPARE computer, if they are lucky, it'll be "very" easy.
