Hello all! I'm really hoping someone here can help me out with a problem, because it's driving me insane.
I just put together a new computer. Older hard drive (80GB IDE -- I'll replace that when I have money), but new CPU (Athlon II), memory (2GB DDR3), and motherboard (Gigabyte MA74GM-S2). The hard drive is slave to a master DVD-ROM.
Upon booting, the machine POSTs fine, both hard drive and DVD drive are recognized accurately.
Here's the problem. If I put in my Windows 7 Home Premium DVD, and try to install, it'll tell me it doesn't see any drives to install to. I get the Load Driver option and the Refresh option, with nothing in the box.
If I put in my Ubuntu CD, it boots up fine, sees the hard drive there, it'll even install to it without a hitch.
So, what are my options here, what can I do? Am I stuck with Ubuntu forever? I just want Windows 7 to install. I know it can, I had it installed on this very hard drive until this morning. What was my mistake, what am I missing?
