If it's a factory-brand one, what's the brand name and model name and model number of your computer?
If it's a self-built one, what's the brand name and model number of your computer's motherboard?
Is it running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit or 64-bit?

Go into the Device Manager and then expand the Sound Video And Game Controllers heading.
What's the exact description of the device listed there?
Double-click that device to open its properties window.
Does it show that device as working properly?
