hi so a few days ago i was on discord with a friend helping him get a server for "don't starve together" setup and configured.

While screen sharing to help direct him in the right locations my desktop crashed.
and after turning it back on and connecting back to discord and reestablishing the screen share it crashed again.

i attempted to turn the pc back on using the power button to be greeted with motherboard performing a cycle of reboots with no signal on my display.

i then held my power button and shut down and the turned it back on, to see a message saying my bios were reset press f1 to setup or f2 to use default setup i chose setup to just look around and make sure everything was ok it seemed good so i exited the setup and loaded windows.

after logging on to windows i opened my system information to look at my bios version which was now showing v19.0.

i dont have msi live update installed and ive also never downloaded any of the bio updates above v17.6,
none of the data needed to perform this update has ever been seen by this computer.

about a month ago i updated from v17.1 to v17.6 because their website advises not to upgrade beyond me7 bios if using sandy bridge cpu's (which i am). V19.0 is the first of the me8 bios meant for ivy bridge cpu's

my question is.....
-how did this happen?
-is there any chance this is just a registry error and it isnt actually the bios version it says it is?
-there is no way to revert back to me7 from me8, should i just update to the newest version v19.2?
-what possible issues am i going to encounter using me8 bios with a sandy bridge cpu?
-can this cause internal damage to any of my desktop components?

heres a link to my motherboard support page
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/H61MP23_B3

my system specs are as follows (i have a few parts on order that i will refrain from putting in this tower until i know its ok to do so)

[email protected] (sandy bridge)
gpu=geforce 210 1gb (gtx 1050 ti on order)
ram=4gb ddr3(not sure about mhz)
psu=400w(should be more than i need)
mobo=msi intel express h61m-p23 (b3)
bios=v19.0(meant for ivy bridge cpu)(should be v17.6)
hdd=2[email protected]/s(120gb ssd on order)
i also have a wifi/bluetooth card on order because im currently sharing internet via ethernet tethering to my other tower which is connected through wifi it has also never seen any of the data needed to perform the bios update that occurred

any help would be greatly i appreciated ive googled everything i can think of and nowhere has anybody ever said their bios updated themselves im quite concerned about this please help me.

Do you have any system restote points? Or a system restore disc you can buy or that came with the conputer or custom system restore dvd-r you made?

Do you have some type of support assistant that is turned on/set to automatic? This is common in HP computers with HP support assistant.If it is set to automatically update,then it will update any driver, firmware, or BIOS when its urgency is listed as recommended.

If the update is not giving you issues,i wouldn't worry about it.On the other hand,if it does,im sure you could just go to the manufacturers website,find the previous driver version that you had and flash your bios.

If you have some type of support assistant,i would set it to manual and just check it now and then.

sorry this took so long to answer

i dont have any system restore points and i think the support assistant for my motherboard would be "msi live update" which as i mentioned above has never been installed also the support page states that it is impossible to flash back from me8 bios to me7 bios which is also stated above

since i posted this i have installed a gtx 1050 ti 4gb gpu and a wifi/bluetooth card things were running fine until 2 or 3 days ago this new gpu updated to driver version 391.01 and im now getting frame loss, freezing that hangs for like 3 minutes and the occasional false bsod error (memory management--ram test says its fine)so far these errors have only occurred in rocket league, evolve stage 2, and now final fantasy x/x-2 hd remastered im playing all of these on steam and my system meets requirements for all 3 games

so essentially i need someone to help me examine my minidump file and determine what is causing this and possibly walk me through reinstalling my os i feel stupid having to ask that but nothing seems to be working and this isnt the only computer giving me errors i just want to fix this and be done with it

and just a minute ago i now received a new bsod error while playing borderlands 2 this one was labeled as a "kernel_data_inpage_error" and i believe that it also failed to initialize my disk to write a crashdump

edit: i ran "chkdsk c: /f /r" through cmd and no errors were reported

i now unninstalled steam and all my games then reinstalled seam and rocket league and was immediately showing the same pre-bsod signs particularly not loading anything in the garage and then freezing my computer for like 3 minutes after trying to exit the game this happens after i select any option in the menu but only if it had trouble loading the garage items (which is every single time...)

heres some extra info about my computer and other issues ive been encountering

-im receiving a persistent boot error "undi driver for aetheros Ethernet controller v1.0.0.2" this error has been showing for a while now long before i ordered my wifi card

-my D drive is making a clicking noise everytime its accessed (which is at pretty random times) the only things on this drive are games capable of being moved around via cut and paste and require no install this also includes my emulators nothing system or steam related (except for the recycling bin and i believe a read file for all the shortcuts stored on my c drive)

-im using a cracked version of windows 7 ultimate 64-bit im not sure where i got it from it was a while ago but i fully intend to reinstall my os onto a new ssd i ordered when this is all done anyways im just concerned that this os im using now is the direct cause of all my issues and im honestly terrified that i will make the same mistake with this ssd but i also have no intent of purchasing a version of windows so if someone could point me in the direction of a legitimate copy of windows 7 ultimate 64-bit (im thinking N version this time) and a working activator that isn't going to compromise the registry in my new os they would be effectively getting the ball rolling for me

--- ill post any other info i remember here this pc has been plaguing my life for a while now and i cant remember everything that i've done in an attempt to get this computer functioning the way it should and i dont want to post things that may lead to confusion

----eg: i assume that the main response will be hard drive failure (and it could be...) due to me exposing my clicking hdd but i have this odd instance of a separate hdd currently in another mobo that is running a different version of windows 7 ultimate N 64 bit (im testing it on my other tower to see if it has some of the same errors still would prefer a referral to a guaranteed to work version of windows) making the same clicking noise my d drive makes except constantly and much much louder and will not make it past boot (this drive was empty at the time and being used as the e drive) this only happens in my msi board the other board its currently functioning in is a dell optiplex 380 i havent tested this theory yet but i assume that if i were to simply put my d drive into this other tower it would never click again

This site clearly states in the rules it does not help with cracked or pirated versions of programs or operating systems ... unless you install a legitimate copy we can't help you on this site.

Do you want a disc or an ISO (I beleieve an ISO is an installable file, but I may be wrong, if I am wrong correct me).

Like I said earlier the site doesn't work even though it appears fully functional and after talking to a Microsoft agent I can no longer purchase a new product key from them either they only deal in windows 10 products now

You can still buy legit Win 7 from resellers like Newegg.
