I installed windows 8 last night on my laptop, the problem is when i open internet explorer, chrome, or firefox i am unable to use the keys 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0. above the letters. they work on notepad and office. Any idea why i cant use these keys while trying to type. I cant make the [email protected]#$%^&*() because of this. Everything worked fine before i installed the new OS.

I tried that. my laptop has a number pad on the right and the normal numbers across the top. well the numberpad works but the numbers across the top from the 1-0 stop working ONLY when its in the internet windows. If i push P then try to push those numbers it just repeats P for each of the number keys i push. This is a very wierd problem. In microsoft word and notepad etc. all of the keys work. They only act like this in internet windows. I thought it was internet explorer but i tried chrome, firefox etc and nothing works.

What security applications are, or ever were, on the system? One of them is the likely culprit.

Windows 8 is much newer. :) After uninstalling them run the Norton Removal Tool and Ad-Aware Removal Tool.

If you want to reinstall them make sure you have the latest version and that there is Windows 8 compatibilility.
