I just hope someone can help me get my desk PC back inorder!!!

My computer started giving me warnings that my hard drivewas going and stating I should get help right away. I had an extended warrantyfrom Sams Club, and it still had a couple months of coverage so I contactedthem, they were great! Sent me a box, free of charge to send PC to them. Theypaid all postage and within a week, returned my pc with all new hard driveinstalled.

Now, heres my problem…. When I purchased this pc it hadwindows 7 … after a while I had upgraded it to windows 8pro..When they returnedmy pc after repair it was back to windows 7, totally like when it was new. I missedwindows 8pro and since I had a KEY for my windows 8pro, I upgraded again towindows 8 pro. All seemed fine but then noticed that when updates were required, it would start updates but then it would say CONFIGURING WINDOWSUPDATES, DO NOT TURN OFF PC….THEN AFTER QUITE A WHILE , IT WOULD SAY FAILURE CONFIGURING UPDATES,REVERTINGCHANGES… DO NOT TURN OFF PC….THIS WOULD GO ON FOR 50 TO 60 MINUTES.THEN , WOULD JUST RESTART PC… IWOULD CHECK RECENTLY INSTALLED UPDATES AND ONLY UPDATES TO MY MICROSOFT OFFICEWOULD WORK .ALL OTHERS UPDATES FAILED.IHAD TO SHUT DOWN ALL AUTOMACTIC UPDATESCAUSE IT JUST DOESN’T WORK…
I HAVE A FEELING THAT WINDOWS 7 IS STILL ON ANDCONFLICTING WITH WINDOWS 8PRO, BUT, DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!!i KNOWW UPDATESARE NECESSARY! Anyone

I started your own thread for you here, as we cannot help you in somebody else's thread.

So, you can't get it updated enough to upgrade to 8.1? Or you don't want to upgrade?

Have you tried doing just a few updates at a time?

Not that I can help with this, just wanted to let you know that exactly the same thing happened to me yesterday. I started a chat with MS Support and eventually let them take over the machine to fix it, but it was not quick and was not easy. It seems that somehow the upgrade put the machine into an infinite loop, such as you described.
