In installing new McAfee Antivirus, had to delete old one manually. Went through registry, deleting everything I thought was part of the old McAfee. Deleted the Scandsk.w.exe by mistake and need to replace it. Am very dumb about computers so would appreciate simple directions, i.e., where to buy or download one.

You can't buy it anywhere, but you can however restore it from your Windows CD-ROM.

As there's no System File Checker in Windows 95, you will have to do this in MS-DOS.

Here's an article: <A HREF="http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q129/6/05.ASP">How to Extract Original Compressed Windows Files</A>

If this proves really tough, you could also reinstall Windows on top of itself. This will restore missing files.

    Good luck,

    Dear Mr. Klein,
Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to send me an answer! I've sent it to a friend who is able to translate technical things into housewife language so, when he has time, I feel hopeful about fixing the problem.
    Sincerely,
    Charlotte H.
