I tried downloading this program that I need for school-- it is located at the following link:
    http://www.gettysburg.edu/academics/physics/clea/CLEAhome.html
    Click: > Software
Click: > Photoelectric Photometry of the Pleaides

However, it does not run on my XP computer. I receive the following error message: "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."

When I download and run the same program on someone else's XP computer, it works fine.

I was wondering what the problem is and how I can fix it, so that I can complete my assignment.

    Thank you for any help.

You need to download and run XP FIX.EXE. The sixth download down.

    Hi pianolisa,

Augie65's reply probably fixed your problem, but here's a quick note of interest:

N.B. To run any Win95 program on a WinXP system, there is a Win95 compatibiliity mode that the program can be run on the WinXP machine - if you do not know already.

Right-click on the Win95 executable, .exe file, and select Properties. There you should see a box in one of the tabs to run the program in Win95 compatibility mode. Check it before you attempt running it.

I'm trying to install a software from CD, but it says that "the program must be run on Windows 95". Tried to change the compatibility of the SETUP.EXE, but still doesn't work. Can anyone help me?
