May I ask for someone's kind assistance please. My daughter's laptop runs Windows 98. At the moment she is getting no icons appear on her desktop at all when she tries to log on. A message appears on screen saying "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists contact the program vendor."
Selecting the Details of the error message gives the following further information:-

Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module SHELL32.DLL at 0167:66869ad4.

We are stumped as to what to do but hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.
    Thank you.

Boot into safe mode with network support, then First you should go http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ download and scan CWShredder and do a fullcan with housecall post log.

Second Get HiJack This V1.99.1 http://thespykiller.co.uk/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe - double click the DL file and click UNZIP letting it extract to its default folder C:\Program FIles\HiJackThis, run it from there, DO NOT fix anything, post the log here
