How can I make a logon password for windows 98? I get the password box that comes up but just clicking cancel allows anyone to get in. How can I put a real password in there so that someone will need to know the password before the computer will boot up? Thanks.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Windows security.....there is no security on Win98.

You could set up a local profile that will give someone no desktop or access to any other functionality if they do hit the cancel button. You have to use the Poledit utility. I think you can also put a password on the BIOS for a boot time password.

Depends on what you want to keep them out of doesn't it? There is NOTHING native to Win98 that will do it.
