Working with a friend on a windows 98 SE computer.

It was on when I got there. the screen was froze and Ctrl Alt Delete woulld close it so I had to turn it off at the tower. Turned it back on and it is loading super slow. It hung up two times and mouse wouldnot move Ctrl Alt delete wouldnot work so I turned off at tower again and started it and went to safe mode and it worked it safe mode. I cleaned the temp filesm cookiesm history in safe mode and took a HJT log. Ran spybot, adware without updates, (but arre updated every month) I got it updated later. Anyway, ran spybot and adware in safe mode and they are clean.

When the machine first started freezing in normal mode it would not show up anything in the tray where all the things that startup should be such as his McAfee and other things. After I was in safe mode I click on the McAfee and it popped up then in the tray. So when I was done in safemode and went back and tried normal mode it then loaded everything in the tray and it all started working. However, the mouse was very erratic would not move right away when I moved it and just erratic. Everything was very slow.I then got on the internet and updated spybot, adware, spyblaster and again spybot and adware are clean. He also has IE-Spyad, Script defender, and spywareguard.

I guess a fatal exception error came up on him a few days ago and of course he didn't write it down. It came up again and I wrote it down in a hurry so I think this is right. it is

Fatal Error OE Occured at 00:28 C0005 1EF IN VXD VMM (01) T000041EF

I am pretty suire that is right, can anyone tell me what that refers to? Is it some with the video card driver maybe? Any help would be appreciated.

Here is the HJT Log I had to take it in safemode. HE woud really like to get this fixed today if possible since tommorrow is thanksgiving. I will wait to hear from someone, Thanks, again here is the log.

While I am looking at your log would you go to search, and put in *.tmp which will give you all your temp files. Then select all and delete. Your OS files won't delete and don't worry about them. Move the OS files out of the search box if any pop up as you can't delete them all if any are in there. Rarely it happens. Windows 98 does not get rid of the temp files. Next look in the Temporary Internet Files and delete all the cookies. There may be thousands. These are two places that slow win 98 down...doc
