I was cleaning up and I unearthed my monster of a PC, which ran a Windows 98 SE. I just got it prepped but it won't connect to my router. Which my previous Kubuntu did. I have a D-Link router which I connect to with a CAT5 cable. I checked the Interwebs, but all those remedies were ineffective. Help please?

    Thanks in advance.

First, run this Automated WINSOCK Fix all Windows Versions.

Next, I'd like to see this with a known good cable connecting this to a good port on the router.

Start, Run, COMMAND to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Open c:\IPCONFIG.TXT in NOTEPAD, copy and paste all of it in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
