Well I no more get one thing working and another pops up.

I got a new Nokia cell phone today and went to the Nokia site to download the software for it and it says I have to have Win 2000 or better for it to work.

My question is will this old Gateway handle Win 2000?

Currently, Win 98, 192 Ram, Pent II processer.

Thanks.

Hi weldor,

The issue of upgrade for a specific purpose also carries with it the support lifetime for the OS to which you are considering. For example, Microsoft announced the WinXP Home support for security patches would not be free after Dec 31, 2006. So, if you wanted your Nokia cell phone software to execute on that system, it would probably work after that date, but you would not be able to get any security updates for free from MS after the end of this year.

You should first look into what is the support lifetime of Windows 2000, then make a decision on what OS to upgrade to: Win2000, WinXP Home, WinXP Pro? Check out the minimum system requirements for each OS, and act according to your needs as you project them.
