I need help with Windows XP home edition. Recently I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled my Windows XP software home edition Pack 1. Everything seems to be working fine except with the activation of my product. The activation Icon is displayed on taskbar notifying me of amount of days remaining for activating my windows. When I click on the Icon, the activation window is displayed with a message that my Windows is already activated? However, the activation Icon continues to count down the days. What do I have to do to fix this problem. I really don't want to reinstall windows again. Is there a number where I can talk with a Tech for help.

Thank you,

Welcome to TSG

There have been a couple of posts on the forum about this problem. I'm not sure that a solution was found. I think the best suggestion was to call Microsoft. They're usually pretty helpful with activation as it has been a somewhat sensitive subject.

What did you do to solve it?

wrs

I did a repair Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console. Then I was asked to activate product and I did. It seems to be working now.

I've had this problem once before and I never had to go through all this, Maybe there was a corrupted file somewhere in the system when I started loading.
