    i have the toshibaa satellite Windows Vista Home Premium. just want to to know does all pc have a code knowen as a G U I D code can i change or block others from seeing it , or mask the lap tops code in some way, its there a programe out there i can download?. sor will i have to pay to get windows re moved and a new widows put in,

    To see the UUID for your system, open a command prompt, type the following
    wmic csproduct get UUID

    Other info that is probably unique to your PC that you can get:
    wmic csproduct get IdentifyingNumber,SKUNumber
    wmic baseboard get serialnumber

    Re-installing Windows won't change the UUID or any of the other info for the motherboard.

    Unless you have configured both your router and firewall to allow WMI access from the Internet it's already masked.

    I'm curious as to why you are worried about masking it. What do you think someone is going to do with the number if they do get it?
