Windows defender won't open. Shows error message

    I've got a pc running Windows 8.1
    64-bit, 4gb of ram. Whenever I open Windows defender, an error message pops up. I need help.

    Are you running any other security type software apart from Windows Defender, such as an Anti-Virus or Anti-Malware program, or a security suite ?

    Try disabling Smadav and restarting the computer and see if you can update Windows Defender then.

    Okay,I'll do that. in case i restart the computer and it doesn't still work, what do I do? I've tried using the software REGISTRY RECYCLER, nothing happened.

    Try it first, if it doesn't help let me know in your next post here.

    Please don't use Registry cleaners/optimizers they can do more harm than good.

    You're welcome. It might be best to restore the backup before disabling Smadav.
    What software did you use to make the backup ?

    Registry recycler was the software I used to clean it and it made backups before the cleaning. I restored the backup, deactivated smadav, restarted the system but nothing. It's still showing the same message. What do I do?
