windows explorer has encountered a problem

I had an audio problem and was trying to reverse everything I did before I had the problem. I tried to remove the service pack 2 and when I rebooted I got "windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs too close sorry for the inconvenience" I don't get any icons or start button, just wallpaper. I get the same thing in safe mode. I really need help with this Please!!!!!!
