I am getting an error message when I try to scan from my laptop. "An error occurred while setting scanner properties. If another program is scanning, please wait for it to complete and try again."
There are no other scanning programs running. This problem recently started. The scan program worked fine until recently. My printer is the HP Prem-Web C309n-s.
I have tried re-installing the printer software, no luck.

Is there any chance this applies
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976482

If not run a system file check
    cmd prompt with admin rights
    type
    sfc /scannow
note space please between sfc and the /scannow

Can you scan without using windows fax and scan eg direct from the HP full software package
OR on windows fax and scan click file new and scan
    check settings on there please

If all that fails disconnect printer.
Uninstall from Devices and printers.- shot down
    Reconnect and reboot./

You asked for help on 17 February and I posted some suggestions the same day.
I wondered if you made any progress
    An update would be appreciated
