Windows Hangs after blackout

    I'm running on vista home basic 32 bit...
    Whenever I run a game or use windows media player or windows photo gallery ... My computer screen turns black and the computer stops responding...
    I need HELP ASAP
    What could be causing this problem???

    It only started two days ago...

    This problem is also there when I try to open a new tab in firefox....

    Those symptoms suggest to me a possible problem with the graphics (display) card or its driver.

    You could try Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking. If the problem does not occur in that mode then the cause is likely software--maybe a driver. You could then try a System Restore to just before the problem began. If the problem does occur in Safe Mode then I suspect a hardware defect.
