    Hey all,
My girlfriends laptop running xp has recently started to do weird things. She removed some spyware and now anytime she clicks on my computer or internet explorer..it'll take a good 5-6 minutes for the window to open. We ran a virus scan and nothing came up. Also, we tried reverting back to an earlier date..which kind of worked..but then quickly went back to normal. I dont know if this is lingering pieces of spyware hanging around or what..but we're wondering what to do. Any suggestions? I know there is the run command that lets me check the integrety of windows files..but that would require the original xp disk that she doesnt have (though I have one for my computer)..any suggestions? I will try to post a hj this log

    SpywareBlaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
    AdAware SE http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html
    SpyBot S&D 1.3 http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

DL them (they are free), install them, check each for their
    definition updates
and then run AdAware and Spybot, fixing anything
    they say.

In SpywareBlaster - Always enable all protection after updates
SpyBot - After an update run immunize

Do these and reboot before the next step.

Then get HiJack This http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html, put
it in a permanent folder (C:\HJT) , run it , DO NOT fix anything, post the
    log here.

I did that.....on the plus side....i managed to remove some of the problem programs in msconfig and then manually uninstalled the problem files.. Thanks for the help anyways. Now my only question is, is there a way to prevent these mallicious items from getting on the computer in the first place. There is a firewall installed (zone alarm) and she is very dilligent when it comes to clicking things
