Can someone please tell me how to set up new accounts in Windows Live Mail 2012 and the Windows 8.1 mail app.

I need this info as I am changing my ISP. I am moving and am with Virgin Media but they are not cabled up where I am going and I will be going with Plusnet.

    All help much appreciated.

What is the last part of your email address
just the bit after the @

if its virgin - then you will have a problem as virgin will close your email after 90days or earlier

if its not virgin and is currently working - then it should work with plusnet (who are part of BT)

so without the email service you are using its difficult to help set it up

    please supply details

Plusnet have given you an email address then
    is that correct ?

heres a link to the plus net guides on how to setup various email client programs on a PC
    http://www.plus.net/support/email/setup/
    the guide is for 2011
But the servers and settings are the same
    http://www.plus.net/support/email/setup/windows_live_mail_2011_setup.shtml

    your windows live ID
did you setup an email account with windows live ?
can you provide the context - why you are asking
its an email account for microsoft - outlook.com or hotmail.com

with windows 8/8.1 you are often asked to setup a windows live account - BUT you do NOT need an account at all
so you can ignore the MS requests
When windows 8/8.1 is first setup you havea number of choices
use an existing windows live account - so if you already have a hotmail account or outlook.com account
Create a new account - which will be setup on the PC and used to loginto the PC
OR - the method I prefer
NOT setup an account at all - known as a local account

That should work automatically pretty much
on windows livemail or the app - you should be able to just enter the email address and password

it should just find the settings and work with outlook.com
which has taken over from live.com and hotmail.com - all use the outlook.com interface

what happens when you use that in WLM ?
