Does anyone know how to port my windows mail contacts to thunderbird?

The standard "import address book" doesn't seem to cater for ".contact"s

    This should work for you:

    1. Open Windows Mail (I'm assuming Vista since you didn't mention Windows Address book)
    2. Click File --> Export --> Windows Contacts
    3. Click CSV (Comma Separated Values) opton
    4. Click Export
    5. Click Browse and choose location to save the file
    6. Name the file
    7. Click Save
    8. Click Next
    9. Check ONLY the fields where you actually have data
    10. Click Finish
Now bring this file to the computer running Thunderbird

    1. Start Thunderbird
    2. Click tools --> Import
    3. Select Address books
    4. Click Import
    5. Click Browse
    6. Change file type from LDIF to CSV
    7. Find and double-click your saved file from above
    8. Finish out wizard.

    Good luci.
