Windows ME Won’t Restart

    :mad: I just buy a new MOBO Amptron M266A and reinstall the Windows ME but it won't restart only display a black screen whit a cursor blinking i double check it out and other funny thing the CPU temperature wen I turn on for the first time marks 152'c and them for a few moments gets normal. The Case have to extra Fans directly conect to the power supply. :confused:
    The PC is Celeron 1.8 Mhz
    Mother Board: Amptron P4-M266A
    Video Card: GForce 2MX 64MB.
    Ram: 512 MB DDR Crucial. 2100.
    Two HD: 30 GB and 40 GB.
    System: Windows ME.

    Can any one give me some thing to doble check.

    The original for the procesor CPU Intel 1.8 Celeron. (y)

    If its a brand new motherboard then check to see if the cmos jumper is in the clear position. If so then change it.

    If that in the clear position is gone to be a lost of bios configuration ?.
    because i not lost any configuration: time and devices all are the same.

    I just check it out and the MOBO don't have CMOS jumper. and the temperature is OK 29C. (y)

    I just reinstall the MOBO and everything and keeps do in the same error wen i try to restart the windows

    Is the bios detecting all the drives ?

    The bios is detecting every thing whit out and error. (y)

    The first is Floppy and the second is the HD. (y)

    can you get into safe mode or does it even get that far ?

    It gets in all the modes and work OK the problem if a try to restart the won't restart only display the black screen and the cursor blink. (y)
    And do the same in safe mode.
    Can be this a problem in the MOBO.

    Another thing you could try is to boot from the bootdisk and select"with cdrom support" then at the a prompt type sys c: . You should get a system transferred message. Then try to boot the system regularily.

    It will boot from the flloppy right ? If so then I would think it may be the master boot record on the hard drive.
