    Hi bdhonline

    This is probably a leftover from lop.com

    [{8522F9B3-38C5-4AA4-AE40-7401F1BBC851}]
    CODEBASE = http://66.28.45.60/Download_Plugin.exe

    ------------------

    The show you are considering listening to requires the additional download of the
    CHAINCAST PLAYER PLUGIN.
    into your already existing player.

    This plugin is a form of SPYWARE that hijacks your internet connection once installed, even when you are not listening to the show which requires it.
    It also sends information from your system, without your knowledge to chaincast.com for reasons not quite made clear.
    If you experience unknown/unexplained slowdowns during internet surfing you may already have this or other such SPYWARE installed

    [CCMPGui Class]
    InProcServer32 = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CCMP392.DLL
    CODEBASE = http://64.124.45.181/chaincast/proxy/CCMP.cab

    ----------------------
    (no name) - (no file) - {1112954A-58B9-4677-8358-2B9EB5046685}

    This was an unknown BHO which you have removed and may have leftovers on your system

    ----------------------
    Please Download and install SpyBot,

    http://www.lurkhere.com/~nicefiles/

    click the online tab to search for and download the updates, then shut down and relaunch SpyBot.

    Go to the Settings tab > File Sets, and uncheck 'System Internals' and 'Tracks' .
    These aren't needed for our present purpose, and you can always experiment with them later on.

    Finally, after closing down Internet Explorer, click 'Check for problems', and have SpyBot remove all it finds 'Fix selected problems'

    you may have to run spybot more than once to clear everything

    Remove everything pre-ticked in Red
    -------------------
    Download hijackthis

    http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php#det

    Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

    After the scan has finished the "scan" button will turn into a "save log" button

    save the log file and paste it here

    Hi bdhonline

    Run Hijackthis again and check, and have Hijack This fix ALL of the following items. ALL Internet Explorer Windows must be closed first:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1112954A-58B9-4677-8358-2B9EB5046685} - (no file)

    O16 - DPF: {7CF052DE-C74F-421B-B04A-3B3037EF5887} (CCMPGui Class) - http://64.124.45.181/chaincast/proxy/CCMP.cab

    And this one - unless you downloaded it on purpose

    This appears to have gone - either you or spybot must have deleted it

    This is probably a leftover from lop.com

    The problem has improved considerably,and I thank you very much for the professional advice. The c://windows/system still takes a while to open but I presume that there could be many other reasons for the behaviour.
    Thanks again. I have learnt a lot. Brian.

    Your system resources would benefit by stopping unneeded programs from starting at startup

    If it doesn't need to load at startup - stop it

    http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_pages/startup_full.htm
    http://www.subdimension.com/userpages/scitech/sbccsi/startups.htm
    http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist_o.htm

    Use the links above to help you decide what you can untick at startup

    Now go to start click "run" and type in msconfig click startup tab - and start unticking

    reboot when finished and these programs will no longer run at startup - you can still start them manualy - or go back and retick them if you decide you want them back on

    This one for instance :-

    LoadQM.exe
