I have upgraded to windows media player 11. I have a family website that plays background music. I use mid. files for the music. after installing player 11 the website works great with music and all. when I download a mid. file to put into the website, the song will not play. but if I re-install player 11 the website will be good again with the new song playing fine. does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?
    thanks

this was on microsofts site. you can try it and see if it works.

    1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the File types tab.

    2. Clear the MIDI file (midi) check box, and then click Apply.

    3. Select the MIDI file (midi) check box, and then click OK.

    hey viprXX,
please bear with a novice. I have windows XP. I do not see a tools menu. would that be the control panel? when I open up the control panel, I see file options. when I open that up there are two Mid. and Midi files but no boxes next to them. don't want to hit anything until I am sure. thanks for your patience and response.
