Well, this is not a very elegant solution, but just open 10 different media files, say .wav's from /windows/media folder and they will walk over all that disgusting stuff in the recent files list.

Go to Start>run and type Regedit. Press enter.
    Nsavigate to:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\RecentURLList
Highlight RecentUrlList and look in the right. REmove the entry for the offending file.
Or. I amnot sure, it may be under

    HKCU, "Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\RecentFileList

Highlight RecentFileList and look in the right pane.

OR I am attaching a txt file. Download and rename it

    DelMediaPlayerMRU.inf
Right click and choose Install from the menu. This will erase all entries from both menus.
