    Hi Guys,

So really hoping someone can help me here as I've tried everything.

The problem is I just can't Windows Media Player (most importantly) or AOL Instant Messanger to work whatsoever. It's been like this for many months and has happened before. Previously, system restores fixed both problems, but this last time the restore points listed were way too recent, so now I'm stuck.

If I open either AIM or Windows Media Player, neither opens. Both briefly appear in the task manager list then disappear. If I try to open a file with Windows Media Player I get a server execution failed error.

I have tried searching for the answer on this via google and have gone through pretty much every fix I've found (some below):

    - Disable/renable WMP
    - Re-install AIM OR try older versions
    - Adminstrator NT Access commands in CMD for WMP
    - Removing WMP DB
    - Restarting the WMP service

NONE have worked and I completely stuck. I have even got rid of all the windows updates from the date this started happening to see if that would help.

Oddly, I use an application online which uses WMP. Audio still works, but there is no video. My web cam has also stopped working after been perfectly fine.

Not sure if these problems are all related, but really hoping someone can offer some assistance!

I am sorry this is happening. But, Have you tried Itunes for your media library? It is free and i think it is a tiny bit better than windows media. You just need to add the files. Download it here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

    It is just a suggestion.

I don't want to use itunes, I want to solve this problem.

Bruce - all my restore points are now too close so the problem never gets fixed.
