I have ten songs that i bought online and my WMP used to play them, but no longer does. Everytime i go to open the files, a error screen comes up saying "there was an u expecte error and WMP needs to close"

i have sent the info. to Microsoft, but there haven't been any fixes. I do have the latest updates for it, any solutions or what's the next step...perhaps a error number is what you need?

don't expect sending an error report is gonna make them do anything... go to "see technical details" or something of the sort and post a screen shot buy pressing the "print screen" button then open a program like paint then press CTRL+V then attach it to your next post

there are no yellow exclamation symbols in device manager.

the program you suggested was able to play video files...with sound!

there a way to tell it to play recognize .wma files? THe progrma said it doesn't used codecs...

maybe be a bit odd, but it wasn't able to play midis.

winamp also crashed while i tried to have it play the .wma files.

if i reinstall win xp home with xp pro will i lose everything? would is fix this?

are ALL the .wma files not working? or just one or 2? they may be corrupt or broken in some way, maybe you should try converting them with a free program, even just a trial to see if it works as for the re-install, yes you could re-format and it probably would deal with it, but lets just try some things before going all out
