This is probably and easy fix, for anyone but me! I tried to down load a Christmas screensaver for my wife and ever since I have had windows media player popping-up. It has overlaid it's icon on my home page like on firefox etc. I did find a bit of help but then it turned out to be for windows 7 pro and of course I have the 7 personal. when i try to go to the program defaults it appears as if I can't change them. Needless to say, Mama is not happy!

If you don't want the icon on your desktop, simply right-click the icon and left-click "Delete." This will move the icon to your Recycle Bin, which you can choose to empty or not.

---------------------------------------------

To fix the Windows Media Player pop-up, try this.

Click Start.

In the search bar type msconfig.

Click the "Startup" tab.

Remove the checkmark next to Windows Media Player.

Click OK.

Reboot the machine.

---------------------------------------------

[Note: If you're unable to find an entry that says "Windows Media Player", take screenshot(s) of this window and attach them to your next post.]

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file. To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

Once you type in "msconfig" and hit enter, a window entitled System Configuration should appear.

This is where you will see the "Startup" tab, and from there, you can follow the rest of my directions.

If this is what you're already doing, but experiencing problems, please provide a screenshot(s) at the point you run into a problem. (Also any error messages, etc).
