Windows messenger

    When I get online the Windows Messenger box pops up to say "A new version is available. You must install a newer version to continue. Would you like to do this now?" I haven't used Windows Messenger at all. I check no, click ok and the darn window pops up again and again and again unless I right-click on the icon in the taskbar and "exit" messenger. This annoying window hasn't popped up like this again and again before. I removed Windows Messenger from add/remove in the control panel and it still pops-up. I have the XP operating system.

    Go into the Messenger's window, click on tools > options > preferences and if you have it checked, uncheck "run this program when windows start".

    You can disable the Messenger service by typing services.msc in the Run box and scrolling down to it.
