I have uninstalled that windows messenger in every way I know how and Norton still tells me that it is trying to connect to the internet. Does anyone know how to get rid of this annoying program once and for all?

In addition to that open outlook express and click on tools/ options/ general tab and uncheck the "automatically log on to windows messenger " box.

Go into the control panal and under admin tools and sevices diable messenger. This turns off the pop ups. As for norton let it go for your mail also works with that program. If it's the buddy list open it go into options and turn it off there.

Here is the Easiest thing to do. Go into C Drive and go into your program Files and find your messenger folder and rename it to messengerOFF and that will take care of it because it wont be able to find it so it will bypass. I did it on mine because i run Trillian and it works great
