Recently I am constantly being told "this computer is not running Genuine windows". All of the solutions I have found are pretty useless. I have tried re entering my product key but when I click on "activate windows now" or "change product key" nothing happens! So I assume Microsoft is blocking my attempts. Please help! :(

You appear to have a eMachines eME series laptop that comes with Windows XP Professional 32-bit.

What's the serial number and/or SNID number on yours?

What's the exact model number on yours?

    let's start here:

Please run the MGA Diagnostic Tool and post back the report it creates:
    • Download MGADiag to your desktop.
    • Double-click on MGADiag.exe to launch the program
    • Click "Continue"
    • Ensure that the "Windows" tab is selected (it should be by default).
    • Click the "Copy" button to copy the MGA Diagnostic Report to the Windows clipboard.
    • Paste the MGA Diagnostic Report back here in your next reply.

Did you download the .iso from Microsoft's web site, from digitalriver, or from elsewhere? If from elsewhere you probably got a pirated and hacked copy. Notice the "Tampered File: %systemroot%\system32\slui.exe|slui.exe.mui|COM Registration". Try from Microsoft Software Recovery.
