Well, i have a new hard drive if you didn't already know and i have now moved all my files/data to the new drive, and now i want to reformat my old one, but after i do it, do i have to install windows again or can i just leave it without a windows and use it as a data storage area?

If your new drive is running fine, you can reformat the old drive and use if just for storage, you don't need an operating system on it to use it
